Sam Jimmison announces some exciting news

February Blog

Hi Guys

At the end of last year I mentioned that I had some very exciting news to announce.  Finally, I get to tell you my big news.

The beginning of February brought the winter dressage regionals.  Ebolensky, performed brilliantly, but it just wasn't our day after a small error in our test.  This event was also my last competitive outing for a while as Neil and I are expecting our first child very shortly!

We are obviously very excited and also very nervous - well I am! I'm hoping everything goes well and I can be back in the saddle and competing at some point in the spring -  I already have my whole competition calendar mapped out for the summer!

After my last competitive ride earlier in the month I had said I was going to stop riding altogether for a while but boredom got to me after about 3 days, so I did manage a few cheeky hacks out on Grace and my old horse Ricky.  I think I would have gone crazy if I wasn't able to manage a few hours in the saddle, all be it a little slower than our usual pace.  Jess is doing a fabulous job keeping all the young ones ticking over at home and my teaching days have gone a crazy.  We have been fully booked so I have been adding extra teaching dates which is keeping me occupied although it has been quite nice not to have to rush round quite as much.  I have even enjoyed a few days shopping and having lunch with friends, making the most of my time as everyone tells me I'm going to become a very busy lady any day soon.

While my equine commitment slows down for the next few weeks it's also been a great time to catch up and follow some of my previous favourites all of which are doing extremely well in their training this season. Florina and Faye Boyling have been out winning in dressage classes and made their BS debut a clean sheet jumping all clear rounds.  I'm sure we will be head to head in some fun age classes later in the event season. Etasja and Flo Plummer are going from strength to strength ahead of their BD debut anytime soon. One of my favourites has to be a little horse with a huge heart Eleta and Tracey Clarkson who I still work with very closely at my training clinics at Thornthorpe each week. These two have made such a strong bond over the winter and their first competition was successful with clear rounds.  It's always nice to see horses I produced excel when they leave me and its lovely to sit back and catch up with all the horses and owners. I'm making a teaching appearance in Nottingham in a weeks time with thanks to Will McMannus so that should be fun and hopefully I will be able to help a few others.  I love helping people progress and gain confidence and in the end achieve their goals so it's nice that everyone is well set for the summer ahead.

It's great now the nights are lighter and it's slightly milder with all the lovely sunshine that's been around, although I'm itching to be out and about with the horses.  I'm hoping that by the time we next catch up I will be slim line again and back in the saddle, with a buggy and baby in tow... I know what your all thinking...but I will give it my best shot!

Bye for now
