NO PLANS TO RIDE THE YORKSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE IN 2015!

January 2015

January has been a nice and easy month for us.   I had a lovely Christmas and New Year with family and friends relaxing and eating far too much.   I was very spoilt and it was great to just chill out, it also gave me the perfect time to reflect on 2014 the good bits and the bad bits and make plans for 2015.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance arrives in the arena
First and foremost this year I need to try and avoid a ride in the air ambulance the day before my first event of season.  Back in March 2014 I was riding a horse belonging to a client, which proceeded to bury me head first.  Early diagnosis suggested I had suspected broken neck/back but thankfully it was less serious and with 2 months off I just about managed to get back in the saddle in time for Badminton.  I still suffer a little from the effects of the fall, but Im grateful to have made a good recovery all considered.

Last year was a phenomenal year for me with success I only used to dream of!  Im hoping that 2015 will be just as good and with lots of learning and training I plan to work twice as hard to fulfil all my ambitions.

I feel so lucky to have such amazing owners, awesome horses, great sponsors and above all the support of you guys, 2015 is going to be one heck of a ride...

A VISIT TO HARTPURY STALLION EVENT

January 2015

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, we had a lovely one and it was great to relax, eat too much and catch up with family and friends. I’m a big fan of Christmas but I also love the New Year as it means I can really look forward to the challenges of the year ahead and the start of the eventing season is almost upon us.

Mum and I started the year with a visit to the Stallion event at Hartpury College on 3rd January. It was a great opportunity to see some very promising stallions in the flesh where we were able to meet them in the stables, ask any questions and then see them perform in the main arena. Our broodmare, Umber, is due in March and we plan to put her straight back in foal so we came away with lots to think about!
I’ve been starting to get fit for the 2015 season and to help this I was lucky enough to ride my trainer, Zoe’s, dressage horse, George. He’s absolutely fab and it was such a privilege to be able to practice lots of fancy moves and really get the ‘feel’ I am looking for with my own horses.

For now, I’m going skiing to America with my husband, Jim for 2 weeks which I’m really excited about. Hopefully I will come back fit as a fiddle with super strong legs ready to get stuck in! Entries open for our first event of the season, Askham Bryan, while we’re away so I am leaving mum specific instructions on entering!
I hope everyone has a great 2015 and I look forward to seeing people out and about very soon.
